Spark is owned and operated by three sisters who grew up right here in Arizona!

EmmaLee Hammond

EmmaLee earned her bachelor's degree in dance from Brigham Young University, where she was on the Cougarette dance team.  As a Cougarette, she performed at BYU football and basketball half times, Utah Jazz half times, and throughout China on a 6-week performing tour. She was the talent and title winner of Gilbert Jr. Miss in high school  and performed in Australia on the Dance Down Under tour following graduation. She danced the parts of Mary Magdalene and one of the ten virgins in the Mesa Easter Pageant and danced in an episode of  "Touched by an Angel".  She has done choreography for plays, dance studio recitals and competitions, Gilbert Jr. Miss, and the Mesa Easter Pageant. For the last 20 years, she has enjoyed sharing her love of dance through teaching.

Amy Shumway

Amy has been dancing and tumbling for as long as she can remember. In junior high she was a member of the school's cheer team and continued through her senior year of high school. In college she was a member of the dance company where she choreographed several performances. She taught dance, tumbling, and cheer throughout high school and college. Her three boys keep her entertained and on her toes!

Natalli Ellsworth

Natalli began taking dance classes at the age of three. She continued training through high school in a variety of dance styles including ballet, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, and tap. She was classically trained in ballet under former principle dancer for Ballet Arizona, Yen-Li Chen and danced in The Nutcracker and La Sylphide. She graduated from Brigham Young University where she took ballet, pointe, and contemporary dance courses. She has 10 years of teaching experience and loves watching her students gain new skills and confidence. Her most valuable training comes from being a stay-at-home mom to five little ones! She currently lives in Oregon where she teaches for a local studio and continues to help run Spark remotely.

Jaquay began her dance career at the age of two in Colorado. At the age of 8, Jaquay was able to dance under the direction of former prima ballerina for the Colorado Ballet, Corinne Reed until age 11. At the age of 11 she was granted a private audition at the Colorado Ballet and accepted with a talent scholarship. Her performances over her dance career include classical ballets like Nutcracker, Swan Lake and many original choreographed pieces. As a former studio owner and teacher, Jaquay has choreographed many dance pieces including a piece performed by her dancers on the Hollywood Backlot Stage in California Adventure. She has also worked with figure skaters, teaching ballet seminars at the Olympic Oval in Utah as well as here is Arizona. In addition, her students have been accepted to ballet companies as soloists and received admission to summer intensives at professional companies all over the United States. Jaquay has a true passion for dance, but her heart is with her family as a wife and mom to 7 children!

Rebecca attended Southern Utah University and National Taiwan University of the Arts to obtain her B.S. in Dance Education. While studying at SUU, Rebecca had the opportunity to perform and develop her skills as an artist and scholar in various dance avenues. Her choreographed work ‘Watchmen’, was chosen for the Gala at American College Dance Festival and awarded ‘Outstanding Choreographer’ from SUU faculty.

Rebecca has had the opportunity to dance with Dulce Dance Company, Elevate Dance Company and is currently dancing with CaZo Dance Company. Rebecca shares her enthusiasm for dance by teaching tap, ballet, contemporary, choreography, creative movement, color guard and cultural dance throughout the Phoenix valley. She is thrilled to bring her varied education and continuing performing experience to enrich her students dance instruction, and is passionate about helping them discover their potential in dance.

Regan was raised in Gilbert and graduated from ASU with a degree in Marketing. She has danced her whole life and found a natural love for yoga and Pilates as well. After high school she got certified to teach these formats and has taught yoga and Pilates for 15 years. Six years ago she started teaching kids and teaches everything from dance to tumbling and yoga. She truly loves teaching kids and helping them to build confidence and channel their love and energy into dance and movement. She has 3 kids of her own and enjoys doing lots of activities with them, including swimming, hiking, and traveling!

Jessi grew up dancing and cheerleading at several studios and gyms in the Chandler/Gilbert area. She performed on the dance and varsity cheer teams at Basha High school where she graduated in 2010. Jessi went on to dance in college for The University of Arizona’s hip hop dance team. At the end of her freshman year, she was given the opportunity to perform on Disney Cruise Line. After 4 years dancing on the seas, she relocated to Southern California for 4 years where she performed at both Disneyland and Universal Studios while teaching on the side. Jessi now lives back in Gilbert with her husband and two dogs. Her favorite styles to teach are jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. She also LOVES teaching the tiny tot ballerinas!

Kambria started dance and tumbling with her sisters at a young age. Her love for all dance genres and music continued to grow as she did, and she trained through high school. During her senior year, she became a certified respite and habilitation provider as she found another passion working with the special needs population. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology and from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Master's in Communication Disorders. As a SLP she has taught hundreds of clients in the school, hospital, and home-health settings. She is thrilled to merge her two passions as the instructor of Spark's adaptive dance classes.

Kalana started dancing when she was only 18 months old. She has been able to work with many professional instructors in the dance field. As Kalana got older she realized she had grown to love hip hop and especially loves teaching it. She has been apart of many school programs and has been in charge of many youth dance events. Kalana has always loved working with kids and is very grateful to be working with some of the younger hip hop students. She is honored to be a part of Spark Dance Academy and looks forward to our future years!
